The circular economy does not arise by itself. Despite increasing interest in the circular economy, many businesses struggle to take concrete steps, with the subject often getting lost in the daily grind. The emphasis on the design phase is crucial, as over 80 percent of all product-related environmental impacts are determined here. New knowledge is often required, demanding an investigative approach to the entire organization and production chain. Circular product and business design not only addresses these challenges but also helps companies innovate, reduce their footprint, and become future-proof. In the end, circular product and business design contributes to businesses becoming more viable and resilient.
As part of a broader collaboration between Hong Kong and the Netherlands in the field of (circular) design, CIRCO International and the Business Environment Council (BEC) – supported by Dutch Government – are launching a Circular Design hub in Hong Kong. The plan is to train a cohort of trainers in Hong Kong in the CIRCO methodology. Empowering the BEC and these trainers to effectively apply design knowledge and tools, enabling them to facilitate circular innovation in local businesses.
During this session, Pieter van Os (co-founder of the CIRCO initiative) and Jeannette Levels-Vermeer (Built Environment Expert) will outline (a) the presence of the CIRCO hub in Hong Kong and (b) explain the CIRCO methodology by using a built environment case for illustration. The keynotes will be followed by a Q&A and subsequently participants can mingle with peers during a networking drink.
The session provides a unique opportunity to learn more about the concept and implementation of circular design for business from a leading experts in Europe, as well as the creation of a new business hub in Hong Kong. It promises to be a highly insightful session on this important topic, so reserve your tickets now!
Networking drinks will follow after Q&A.
