DutchCham 27th China Seminar

The ongoing US – China trade war has been omni-present in 2020, with no clear direction and conclusions yet. The European countries have gradually become more outspoken too in their trade/economical requirements versus China. At the same time, China is affirming and defending its interests more assertively than before. Together with the overall challenging economic outlook globally and the high level of uncertainty due to Covid-19, the stakes have dramatically increased during the last few months. As a consequence, many companies are negatively impacted, are changing their investment plans, and are facing new rules of play in a changing regulatory framework in China, Europe and elsewhere.

During this dinner seminar, we aim to give the audience a better insight in the impact on the Chinese and international business ecosystem, as well as meaningful examples from various companies that have succeeded in identifying these changes and tailoring their business plans and strategies accordingly when entering/growing in China.

Some questions that will be addressed during the seminar:

What to expect and how strict/impactful are the new European and US rules and regulations vis-à-vis China going to be? What to expect from the Chinese "Black List" of foreign companies being blocked in China? Are value chains from global companies indeed moving out of China, in order to be less dependant on China? What structural macro-economic shifts are occurring in light of these changing global attitudes versus China? What new risks and opportunities could you expect for 2021 and beyond?

At the end of the evening all attendees should have a fully updated and latest view on China and how to best operate within the current trade hostilities and uncertainty.

The Chatham House rule will apply during the evening.
