The two artists explore the elegant Zen aesthetic of "Wabi-Sabi" in urban landscapes and daily objects, and the vigorous vitality underneath the surface of the rough and weathered forms. It creates a multi-dimensional story space with a blend of Eastern and Western perspectives.

Marcel Heijnen has been based in Asia for almost 30 years, 9 of which in Hong Kong. Known for his Hong Kong Shop Cats series he has recently returned to the fine art form of photography he started with in his Residue series 10 years ago, and this resulted in the brand new Bloom series, works in which he pays hommage to Hong Kong's nature as well as its urban landscape. He used a glass panel and a camera to create esoteric and dream-like images of the city. This time involving flowers.

Now represented by the prestigious Amanda Wei Gallery he is pleased to host an exhibition tour and talk on Wednesday 9 June from 7-8:30pm (with a talk at 7:30pm).
