In December 2017 the Hong Kong government presented the Hong Kong Smart City Blue Print. By adopting the measures set out in this Blue Print Hong Kong should be turned into a world class smart city. The Environment & Energy Business Council (EEBC) of the European Chamber of Commerce presents in April a position paper with a review of the measures proposed to create a Smart Environment and profound recommendations on how to make Hong Kong more sustainable. The Chairman of the EEBC, Tom Uiterwaal, will present the views and visions of the European Business Community on how to make Hong Kong a world class sustainable smart city.

    Tom Uiterwaal, since 10 years active in the Waste-to-Energy industry both in Asia and Europe, is Founder and CEO of Reconergy (Hong Kong) Ltd. Reconergy is focused on the UCO and biodiesel trade and turning Municipal Solid Waste into green electricity. In 2017, Reconergy became the proud winner of the Cathay Pacific Shooting Star award. Before Tom moved to Asia he worked for 12 years with CARGILL, the biggest food ingredients company in the world, in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
