It is estimated that the Asian GDP is going to make up 50% of the global GDP by 2040, and China plays a significant role in realising that. Talent recruitment and engagement in China is not quite the same as practices conducted in the western world or even other Asia Pacific markets. It is a candidate-led market in most of the tier-one cities in China, with many individuals receiving several job opportunities even when they are not looking for a change. Natellie Sun, Managing Director of Search & Selection at Randstad Greater China will be discussing the changing candidate and employee expectations, the revolution of employer branding and talent attraction and top tips for organisations looking to build and strengthen their human capital.

Anyone who has ever dealt with an employment dispute in China quickly learns that PRC labor laws are among the most employee-friendly in the world. Many foreign companies are often unpleasantly surprised that even in cases of clear misconduct it is not always possible to terminate an employee, or only after making hefty severance payments. Often this is the result of a lack of understanding of the relevant PRC labour rules & regulations and insufficient preparation. Rogier van Bijnen will explain how employers in China can best protect themselves against claims from employees, and he will also share some of the best practices when it comes to terminating employees.
